3rd day of rallying - February 5th

Oppdatert: 6. feb.

The 3 tests today look ok on paper (read: maps), but I guess the reality might differ somewhat.

We set off in an early morning sun, and as we drove up to the start of SR 11, we got the ICE-report telling us about some “patches of ice” and limited “black ice”. Well, it is like it is, and we decided to hold back a little on the speed and stay safe. Again, navigation is not an issue – you need to drive as fast as you possibly can to keep up.

SR 11 went ok, and we ended up as no 55 (in class).

Moving on to SR 12 we were notified about more snow & ice, thus the average speed required was reduced. I think that was good…. After a few kilometers we met the first Porsche 911 in the ditch being followed by a Lancia having left the road. We took it easy but ended up as no 27.

SR 13 was all about driving on dry asphalt. Very demanding track, especially as we used our winter tires (no time to change). We drove fast, but not fast enough – ended up as no 44.

All-in-all fair enough given our somewhat safe approach. The trip was going totally wild on SR 11 and we were driving blind as to timing.  So, then we just do as best we can and hope it isn’t too bad. But it was  SR 12 and 13 were as such ok.

Yesterday’s overall position was 34 in class.

Today’s overall position is 29 in class:-)

This is our last night in Valence as the circus moves on to Monaco. And it just gets even more crowded with people and show  Tomorrow afternoon we’ll be joined by our bellowed ones – really looking forward to that!
