Final leg to Monaco
Our final leg to Monaco from Valence is a long one, some 437 km before starting off on the last to tests up in hills above Monte-Carlo. We left Valence with spirits high and looking forward to a) finish the rally and b) meeting our bellowed ones! The day consisted of 3 tests and a lot of transportation between those tests. All on narrowing & winding roads. SR 14 was the first test. Again, rather demanding, fast and challenging. At this point of time, we decided to drive wit

Final day - January 6th
This Friday, competitors will depart from Valence at 7:00 am for what promises to be a demanding day. The second shared stage features iconic sections of the Monte Carlo Rally, including Col des Garcinets, the highest point of RS15. Crews will then tackle the day’s longest regularity special stage between Auzet and Esclangon (RS16). After passing through Dignes-les-Bains and Saint-André-les-Alpes for time controls, they will return to the Parc Fermé in Monaco, with arrival sc

3rd day of rallying - February 5th
The 3 tests today look ok on paper (read: maps), but I guess the reality might differ somewhat. We set off in an early morning sun, and as we drove up to the start of SR 11, we got the ICE-report telling us about some “patches of ice” and limited “black ice”. Well, it is like it is, and we decided to hold back a little on the speed and stay safe. Again, navigation is not an issue – you need to drive as fast as you possibly can to keep up. SR 11 went ok, and we ended up as n

Snow Chaos - 2nd day of rallying, February 4th
Breakfast at 06:30 am. A little early if you ask me, but that’s how it is these days are at the Monte-Carlo event. Detailed planning as to where Frode & Harald should meet us, and how to facilitate a smooth run (food, petrol, any unforeseen maintenance, etc) was concluded. We left Parc Fermé as scheduled and turned west of the river and up into the hills. The Ice-car (track review service) had already notified that SR 7 would be without any snow/ice, and spirits were high as

1st day of rallying – February 3rd
We woke up to a rainy, but mild morning in Valence. Pouring down actually, but it is like it is. Just fire up the engine and get going! We left 07.21 am and got off to the 1st stage. The road report was not encouraging (snow, black ice ++), but the roads brought positive news - better than expected! SR1 offered some snow & slush, but the little Golf sprinted through the stage nice an easy! We saw one Escort off the road, and I understand more followed. SR2 went well as well

The final leg - from Gap to Valence
February 2nd 2026 Valence The final leg from Gap to Valence was another 275 km transportation leg, although with timing to the minute. For us, this went again with no issues – the car worked perfect, the team as well. The good news is that the Norwegian team we feared had retired yesterday is back in the game! Hard work and some good friends made it possible! The weather today was fine – up to some + 15 C and mostly dry roads offered some hours of great driving. We arrived in

Today’s leg - transportation from MC to Gap
February 1 st 2026 Our days at the base camp in Nice had come to end, and following a great breakfast we packed the cars and headed off direction Monte-Carlo. To join the circus. And a circus it is; some 80 cars gathered on display with lots of enthusiast (and some onlookers) filled the harbor in Monte-Carlo. Quite an experience and so different from Bad Homburg last year. 5 Norwegian crews started this year in MC, and 4 of us more or less in a row entering the starting pod

ACM admin control and the tech scrutineering
January 31st 2026 Waking up to another sunny day on Cote D’Azur is never wrong; in fact, rather stimulating and motivating for what’s ahead of us! The car was “ready to go” last night and following some verification on documentation required to be ready for check-in, we headed off to Monte-Carlo. It always strikes me how beautiful the landscape is, green even this time of year with the azure blue ocean reflecting the early spring (?) sun. And looking up at the mountains, we r

Nice, France - January 30th 2026
Getting the team gathered in Nice yesterday evening was another milestone; feeling the joint motivation and spirit for the upcoming event was a thrill! Today, we've worked on the car, I.e. checking sensors (we had an issue yesterday on the last lap), wheels, electrics, cleaning and engine tuning. By end of day, I think we are pretty much ready to head for check-in and scruteneering tomorrow - starting at 2 pm. Again, I have to thank the entire team for their contribution and

Test run January 29th 2026
This morning, the sun returned to the Cote d’Azur - yesterday was really dreadful with rain pouring down. Following some minor maintenance (a headlight filled with water), we headed off to check out SR 17 and 18. The first one takes us over Col de Turini; normally offering unpredictable conditions at 1.600 msl. And today was one of those days; started off with dry surfaces, but as we climbed up above 1.300 msl we got icy roads and finally snow! As we passed the peak, we turne

Test run January 27th 2026
Tuesday came with wind and rain. But we trotted off at 8 am, quite happy with things. SR 7 went ok, demanding but still better than the previous ones. SR 8 started above 1.100 msl, a lot of snow, rain and + 1C. Driving in slush is no fun, slippery and slow. So the driver decided to speed up. Want well for a couple of km, but we then came to a full stop. In a ditch, or rather a little river..... Took us 2,5 hrs of work to get back on the road. Wet, but happy we returned to th

Test run January 26th 2026
The adventure is on; today we got the Golf off the trailer and back on the road. We then took a test run on SR 1-3 to check out the car as well as the stages. To make a long story short; this year’s rally is a totally different ballgame! The roads are narrower, steeper with a lot of hairpins. SR 1 was a true reality check with quite some snow/ice/slush and got us on our toes. SR 2 was even tougher with variable surfaces and many hairpins. SR 3 however, is a monster; roads are
