February 1 st 2026

Our days at the base camp in Nice had come to end, and following a great breakfast we packed the cars and headed off direction Monte-Carlo. To join the circus. And a circus it is; some 80 cars gathered on display with lots of enthusiast (and some onlookers) filled the harbor in Monte-Carlo. Quite an experience and so different from Bad Homburg last year.

5 Norwegian crews started this year in MC, and 4 of us more or less in a row entering the starting podium as from 2 p.m. Great experience with the cheering crowd – this is our Tour de France!

Today’s leg was straight forward transportation from MC to Gap with no tests involved. However, a few cars already faced some issues and I fear that one of the Norwegian crews had to withdraw as a result of tech issues (not confirmed though, fingers crossed).

Our little Golf trotted along without any issues. Arriving in Gap we decided to replace the front wheel winter tires with fresh ones, preparing for the initial stages out of Valence on Tuesday as winterly conditions are expected. After checking in at Parc Fermé in Valence there will not be much room for maintenance / replacements/service as no works are allowed when cars are locked up (from 6 pm to 7 am). So better safe than sorry!

And - with great help from our Greek rally friends, in particular mr. Spyros Moustakas at RegularityMaster we got hold of a new trip sensor and we had it installed immediately. Great work from the team!

Tomorrow awaits another transportation leg from Gap to Valence. Shouldn’t be too challenging, but who knows….

Godt trippen er på plass med to sensorer, god tur. Kan ikke unngå å si at jeg er jævlig misunnelig. Dette er en uke med rå opplevelser.
